12 Things To Know About Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Fiancée


Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Prince Harry and his American actress girlfriend, Meghan Markle are engaged. The announcement was made by Prince Charles, Harry’s father on November 27th.

Harry and Meghan revealed during their engagement interview how they met: They were set up by an unnamed mutual friend on a blind date. They were introduced in July of 2016 in Toronto while Harry was in town to promote the 2017 Invictus gams.

All Meghan wished to know about her date was if he was kind. Harry didn’t know anything about Meghan – that she was on the TV show Suits. Likewise, Meghan didn’t know much either about the former playboy prince.

The Prince and his Hollywood princess will be married in st. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May of 2018.

Who is Meghan Markle though? There is much interest and intrigue surrounding the American humanitarian and former lifestyle blogger. Here are 12 things you might not know about Prince Harry’s Duchess-to-be.

1. She grew up in Hollywood—sort of.

Meghan was born on August 4, 1981 as rachel Meghan Markle. She spent her childhood attending private catholic schools. aFter school, she’d spend time on the sets of general Hospital and Married With Children with her father, Thomas, who was a lighting director.

Meghan spoke of this time in her life: She told Vanity Fair, “Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of ‘Married … With  Children,’ which was a really funny and perverse place for a little girl in a Catholic school  uniform to grow up.”

2. She’s best known for her role in “Suits.”

Until recently, Meghan played the part of Rachel Zane on the USA Network show, “Suits.” She was on the show for seven seasons. She announced after completing Season Seven that she would be leaving the show and acting for good.

3. She once worked in Argentina.

In 2003, Meghan graduated with a double Major in theater and international relations. She obtained her degrees from North western University. In her senior year, she worked for the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires Argentina.

4. She did some odd jobs trying to support herself as an actress.

Meghan had to work hard to reach superstar status. She held odd jobs like working as a restaurant hostess and doing calligraphy for wedding invitations. At the same time, she auditioned for roles.

5. Her mom, Doria Ragland is her best friend.

Doria, according to Meghan is a free spirit. She’s a yoga instructor and a social worker.

Her parents split up when she was two, but she’d never know it because she never saw them fight. “What’s so incredible, you know, is that my parents split up when I was two  [but] I never saw them fight,” she told Vanity Fair. “We were still so close-knit.”

6. She’s got (celebrity) friends in high places.

Markle is good friends with “Quantico” star Priyanka Chopra. She saw the musical “Hamilton” with her. Meghan is also good friends with tennis champ, Serena Williams.

7. She ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig.

Meghan ran a lifestyle blog she called the Tig. It focused on two of her favorite things, food and travel. The blog was named in honor of her favorite wine, Tignanello.

8. She has two rescue dogs.

Meghan loves animals. Until recently, she’s had two dogs, Bogart and Guy. Guy is with Meghan in London, but Bogart has been re-homed with friends of hers.

9. She was previously married.

Meghan was married from September, 2011 to August 2013 to producer Trevor Engelson. The two had been dating for seven years before they married.

10. She’s deeply involved in philanthropy.

Meghan has worked with the organization, world vision. she has also served as an advocate for UN Women. Meghan is very committed to gender equality.

11. She and Prince Harry met last yearMeghan met her Prince in July of 2016 when Harry was in Toronto promoting the 2017 Invictus Games. They were introduced by a mutual friend.

12. She used to be a briefcase model on “Deal or No Deal.”

Meghan appeared in 34 episodes of the show. She was model #24. She also had roles on “90210,” “Fringe,” “Castle” and “CSI: Miami.” Markle has also appeared in the  comedies “Get Him To The Greek” and Horrible Bosses.”
