There are a wide range of ways to learn more about our personality traits. Did you know that our fingernails can actually be used to decipher certain aspects of our psyches? Even something as simple as the length that we keep our fingernails at can go a long way towards telling the world more about who we are. Let’s take a closer look at some of the reasons why our fingernails are so inadvertently revealing.
For example, a male will usually have a shorter index finger than ring finger and women are the exact opposite. These finger length ratios are said to play a role in the amount of testosterone or estrogen that the body produces. Men who have a more “feminine” ratio are believed to experience depression at a much higher rate. Meanwhile, shorter index fingers are typically connected with the concept of assertiveness.
The shape of our fingernails also determines a great deal about our personalities. Triangular shaped fingernails tend to belong to people who are high strung. A broad and rectangular fingernail means that the person has a very bad temper. Taller and rectangular fingernails are indicative of someone who is narrow minded and selfish.
What about rounded fingernails, though? These people are thought to be happy and open minded. As for those who have a C shaped fingernail that points downwards, this is a person that works hard and has overcome past adversity. There is even information to be found about personality disorders that can be discovered by taking a closer look at the fingernails.
If fingernails have been bitten down to the nubs, this is a sign of a person who is extremely stressed. While this is a habit that is commonly found in children, it is indicative of more severe problems in an adult. In a very extreme case, this means that the person is experiencing a personality disorder of some kind. If the biting interferes with typical daily activities, we must take the time to visit a doctor.
Who knew that our fingernails were telling us this deep of a story about ourselves and who we are as people? Please be sure to pass this story along to your closest friends and loved ones as soon as possible. They will be surprised to learn more about all of the aforementioned fingernail traits and how they affect our ability to relate to the rest of the world.
