Suha Dabit is known to many as the founder of the Facebook group World of Broken Hearts. She takes photographs of families that are struggling with congenital heart disease. These photos are taken during the most vulnerable moments so that the world can see just how gut wrenching this disease can be. The purpose for this Facebook page is a rather personal one as well.

Dabit does not take these photos as a means of exploiting the pain of others. Her daughter would not be alive today if she did not receive a timely heart donation. She and her daughter spent months waiting for the call and they understand just how tough it can be for families to grapple with this aspect of the proceedings. It was this experience that served as her inspiration to become a photographer.

Many of the babies that she takes pictures of are not ever going to leave the hospital that they are currently residing in. Suha’s goal is to capture them in their full essence. The photos that she takes are designed to illuminate the souls of these brave little fighters. They all have a story of their own that needs to be heard by the rest of the world at large.

When she recently took photos of a two year old child who passed away while she was waiting for a heart transplant, this story touched her in a very special place. As a mother who found herself in the exact same position before she was finally provided with assistance, she knew exactly how this family felt. She was transported back to this exact same moment in her life.

20 babies pass away each day while they are in the midst of waiting for a transplant and this is a sad reality that parents everywhere are forced to live with. There are no words that can describe the sadness and pain that these families go through and that is why Suha works tirelessly to document their stories. Awareness is everything when it comes to cases like these.

That’s why we urge all of our readers to pass this story along as soon as possible. Justin and Kristi have graciously agreed to share this story with the rest of the world and we applaud them for being willing to do so. We hope that their baby girl is currently resting in peace and smiling down upon her family. May her story continue to touch lives everywhere.
