It was the wedding of the year, and people are judging everything from the music to how people were sitting. Did Harry and Meghan break Royal protocol with their modern wedding? Was Kate unhappy she had to sit next to Camilla? Most importantly who had the better dress, Kate or Meghan?
Kate and Meghan were both of common blood, however Kate was marrying the future King of England. Maybe that is something to take into consideration when comparing the two dresses.
Katy Perry was not afraid to give ET’s, Lauren Zima, her opinion on the bride’s choice of gown.
But first here’s what Kensington Palace had to say about the dress.
“The dress epitomizes a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952.”
“True to the heritage of the house, the pure lines of the dress are achieved using six meticulously placed seams. The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasizes the slender sculpted waist.
“The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity.”
Meghan’s dress was designed by a icon in the fashion industry, it was not to the liking of the American Idol Pop Star, 33 year old Katy Perry. She told the truth when asked her thoughts on the royal wedding dress.
Katy did start off by congratulating the happy couple before slamming the dress by saying:
“I’m so happy for them, and, you know, I don’t know them from Adam, but it’s amazing what she’s doing with all this, her humanitarian efforts. You know, the fact that she’s a proud feminist, I love all that, so I support her as another woman and love her and wish them both well.”
Lionel Richie, American Idol Judge and 80’s Icon, was also present, and said:
“I remember when Di had them, Lady Di, and it was amazing and now to see them both married and kids, well not yet, but married,” he said. “She would be very proud. I must tell you, I mean, it’s a moment in time, but I’m glad to see they’re moving on as young men now, as family men. I love that.”
Katy said this when asked what she thought of the dress, “I would have done one more fitting. I’m never not going to tell the truth! One more fitting, but I love you.”
The singer then professed, “Kate, Kate, Kate won, Kate won!”
Wait what? Do you agree with her?
Either way, it’s worth keeping in mind that Meghan wore more than one dress at the wedding.
After the ceremony, Harry and Meghan were swepted away for an evening reception at Frogmore House, the Duchess changed into a bespoke Stella McCartnery white gown.
During the reception Meghan was spotted with an aquamarine cocktail ring that had belonged to Princess Diana, that she was seen to be wearing months before her tragic death in 1997.
The main thing everyone should remember is that on her big day Meghan looked beautiful. We can’t wait to see what Katy chooses if Orlando Bloom ever decides to pop the question. Maybe Meghan will have her revenge…although she is royalty now so I’m sure she is above that nonsense.
Congratulations to Harry and Meghan we wish them all the best that life can bring.
