Meghan Markle Took This Shelter Dog Home And Now It’s Royalty

Many of us are familiar with the plight of animals who, for one reason or another, find themselves in a shelter. Unfortunately, many of those shelters are so full of animals that they have a very slight chance of survival. That was the case with Guy, a beagle who was in a high kill shelter in Kentucky. He was only a few days away from being euthanized, but his life was about to change.

Guy was only three years old when he was found wandering in the woods, all alone. He spent his time in the shelter waiting for somebody to adopt him but nobody came in to sign the papers and his former owners were nowhere to be found.

Fortunately, this lucky little dog had someone who walked into his life and changed it in an amazing way. Since his time in the shelter, he has had to learn to live with luxury. Guy has a fancy little cottage that is located on the grounds of Kensington Palace. Now that the royal wedding has taken place, he has moved into a better position as the newest canine member of the royal family. His mother is none other than Meghan Markle, bride of Prince Harry.

Guy has been a part of Megan’s life since 2015. She met him at an adoption event in Ontario, Canada at a local pet store. He had been pulled from the high kill shelter earlier that week by A Dog’s Dream Rescue and had just arrived at the event. In other words, he was just in time for his life to be changed in an amazing way.

“He was just sitting there with those big beagle sad eyes, looking so depressed,” Dolores Doherty, founder of the rescue, told The Guardian. “He was irresistible.”

They had no idea that his new partner in life was the famous actress, Meghan Markle. That was, of course, until an appointment was established to meet with her security guards so that the required home check could be completed.

It wasn’t long before Guy found himself his new home and he even gained a spot on Markle’s Instagram account.

Many of the pictures that were uploaded of this pup showed him snuggling on the couch along with Markle and another rescue dog, Bogart. When she was out for walks with her dogs in Toronto, he was also photographed by the paparazzi.

When Markle moved to the UK in November, Guy moved along with her. The royal family couldn’t be happier with the new addition. He was even seen riding in the car with Queen Elizabeth as they were escorting her to Windsor Castle for tea.

You never know what life is going to hand to you. For this little shelter dog, it was an amazing ride.
