Neurosurgeon Explains Warning Signs Of Brain Aneurysm After Sudden Death Of Young Mom

When a young mother passes away, it is a sad moment for all parties involved. The mother in this story passed away from a brain aneurysm and this occurrence is being used as a teachable moment. A brain aneurysm is a particularly scary event because it can take place with little to no warning. Identifying the warning signs in situations like these can be challenging.

Lee was just 41 years old when she passed away. When she first started to experience headaches that were out of her usual norm, she knew that something had to be wrong. Her husband Eric received a text from her letting him know that he needed to come home immediately. It was then that he knew something was severely wrong. Sadly, they were in the midst of planning her 42nd birthday when the headaches began to come on.

Within 48 hours of the initial headache, Lee had passed away. Doctors told Eric that a brain aneurysm was to blame for her sudden passing. Dr. Howard A. Riina was contacted by People magazine in the wake of this tragedy. Dr. Riina’s objective is to remove the veil that surrounds this common medical issue and provide patients with the ability to recognize the warning signs.

A migraine is the type of issue that some patients may attempt to remedy with an over the counter medication. If the migraine is especially painful and it is among the worst we have ever had, it is time to visit the emergency room. Sudden neck stiffness is another sign that we must pay closer attention to and if our vision is blurred, this is another issue that needs to be addressed.

Loss of consciousness, vomiting, nausea and seizures are additional signs that we need to remain on the lookout for. These types of symptoms should never be ignored or treated as signs of a garden variety illness. Those who are experiencing more than one of the symptoms that are listed above must seek medical assistance immediately.

This is a story that definitely needs to be shared as soon as possible. Brain aneurysms do not make a habit of announcing themselves ahead of time. We all need to take the time to pass this story along. You never know when you might be saving someone’s life. Please share away as soon as possible and do your part to assist those who are in need of medical assistance.
