If you were to see Jaimie Wilson when you were walking down the street, you would probably not think too much about him one way or the other.
He looks like the typical All-American guy, and some might even go so far as to call him a heartthrob. What most do not know is that he is currently in the latter stages of the process of transitioning from female to male.
She began the transition back in 2015 and did not have the support of most friends or family members. She alienated many of the people closest to him with this decision and it took a lot for her to overcome his initial fears. She now shares her thoughts with her hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram. It took two years worth of surgeries and treatments, but she is now the man she always considered herself to be.
Unfortunately, he has not received the sort of acceptance from the trans community that he had dreamed of. While his old friends and closest family members all said that she was too feminine to become a man, there are members of the trans community who now find him to be too masculine. They believe that he is simply trying too hard to be something he’s not.
While this is certainly heartbreaking, it is also a reminder that you need to be who you truly are, no matter what anyone might have to say about it. He is an aspiring country musician and his music has begun to make some serious inroads, as he has been booked for a performance at a festival in Budapest alongside luminaries like Wiz Khalifa and the Chainsmokers.
This brave transition definitely deserves a round of applause and our heart goes to Jaimie. No one should ever feel like they don’t have a group to belong to and sadly, Jaimie was ostracized by both his closest friends and family members and by the transgender community. His Instagram account now serves as a primary method of communication and we wish him all of the best with his country music career.
Please share this highly inspirational story with your closest friends and loved ones as soon as possible. After all, transgender citizens deserve the same love and affection as anyone else.
