Wendy’s Burns iHop On Twitter With Viral Joke After The Company Changed Its Name

There is an old saying that says, “You can’t go home again.” We might experience the truthfulness of that saying in many areas of life and sometimes, it might be attached to something we never thought would change. That is something that many people experienced recently when IHOP ran a marketing campaign. They took the internet by storm by announcing that they were changing their name to IHOb!

What could this possibly mean? Some people were curious and others were quite upset. After all, pancakes are a comfort food and IHOP (or should I say, IHOb?) was the king of the griddle. As it turns out, they weren’t really changing their name; it was a marketing ploy to let people know that they are adding a few burgers to the menu. One of those burgers is the Big Brunch. It includes a fried egg, fried potato and, of course, bacon.

Darren Robelez, the president of IHOP put our fears to rest when he said, “We are definitely going to be IHOP but we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes.”

They even took things as far as changing some of the signs at their restaurant location.

With the news that most of their 1,800 locations would still be IHOP, the internet breathed a sigh of relief.

Then a burn came from out of the blue. It was from none other than Wendy’s.

And then more flames from Wendy’s. Who do they think they are, Burger King? They are serving up some flame broiled Tweets.

One more stab from Wendy’s

At least they shook hands and parted friends
