While most of us have probably tried an impression or two at some point in our lives, it is the type of skill that is easy to attempt and difficult to master. That’s why there are precious few people who have the ability to bring a crowd to tears with their hilarious impersonations.
There is a certain special quality to people who can perform a perfect impersonation and the young woman that you are about to meet in this clip definitely has the gift. She first came to the public’s attention during season 6 of America’s Got Talent and has become a major hit as a result of this viral clip.
The clip begins with the typical question and answer routine before Melissa brings the house down. She starts her routine with an immediately recognizable impersonation of Barbara Walters and when she proceeds to skewer Natalie Portman and Kathy Griffin, the crowd absolutely loses it.
As if that were not hilarious enough, she concludes the bit by adopting the voice of Christina Aguilera and singing the National Anthem. Even though this moment is funny in its own right, it is also notable for another important fact: Melissa’s got pipes and she can truly carry a tune!
She received a standing ovation from the appreciative crowd and her efforts did not go unnoticed, as she was invited to audition for Saturday Night Live as a result of her amazing performance. Melissa did not receive a role on the show, but that did not stop her from writing an appreciative Facebook post about the opportunity.
This story has a much happier ending than you may have expected, as the original routine took place seven years ago and she has since been hired by the venerable comedy institution!
Welcome to the cast @mikeyfuntime, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor!

“SNL is one of the main reasons why I started comedy at 15 and I pray to be there someday when I am ready and have even more to offer. I am very thankful for that experience and will always keep working at new impressions as well as my stand-up comedy.”
Melissa’s story is proof positive that persistence pays off and we urge to share her amazing tale with all of your closest friends and family members.
